Renewal of Vows
A Renewal of Vows ceremony is a wonderful way for a couple, to create another very special day in their life, to declare their love and commitment for each other. After years of marriage, what could be a more perfect way to say ‘I love you’, than through a Renewal of Vows ceremony, on a special anniversary or a significant day, surrounded by family and friends.
Couples also renew their wedding vows, after having been married overseas, by creating a Renewal of Vows ceremony to celebrate their marriage with family and friends, who may not have been able to attend, upon their return.
A Renewal of Vows ceremony may be simple or as elaborate as a formal wedding ceremony i.e. it could be a small, intimate family celebration held in your own home or a large gathering in a wedding venue, at a park, or in a favourite restaurant. The ceremony may follow the structure of a wedding ceremony. You may wish to include a personal story that would talk about your love and commitment for each other and your desire to renew your vows. You may include the wording of your original vows or write new ones that reflect your love and commitment for each other today. If you have children and grandchildren, it is lovely to include them in your ceremony, either in your personal story or by having them say a reading, etc. within the ceremony.
In a Renewal of Vows ceremony couples will be presented with a commemorative certificate and a decorative printed booklet of their ceremony to keep as a memento. Extra certificates for family members can be arranged.
